About Cantonment College Jashore

‘Cantonment College Jashore’ is the first college established by the Directorate of Military Lands and Cantonments under the Ministry of Defence. The college started its journey in two small rooms of Dawood Public School with a total of 5 students including 3 Bengalis students on 1 July 1969. Captain Karim Uddin Ahmed served as the first principal of the college. Later in 1983, the college was shifted from Dawood Public School campus to the present campus. BA, BSS, BCom and BSc courses were opened in 1995 to meet the expectations of parents of all levels. The contribution of former Army Chief (Late) General Md. Mustafizur Rahman, BB, NDC, PSC regarding the launch of Graduate (Honors) Courses and construction of important infrastructure is undeniable. Under his inspiration, Bachelor (Honours) courses were started in 1996 and Post Graduate courses in 1999 under the National University. Thus the college gradually became a higher learning institution. In 2003, in the first year of introduction of GPA in higher secondary class, a girl student of the college achieved the honor of getting GPA 5 as the only student from Jessore Education Board. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its establishment, the ‘Golden Jubilee’ was celebrated in 2019 at a gathering of distinguished past and present teachers and students of the college. Currently, at the higher secondary level, we offer courses in Science, Humanities, and Business Studies. Additionally, we provide Degree (Pass) programs in 10 subjects, as well as Graduate (Honours) and Post-Graduate courses in 5 subjects. In 2015, the institution was completely converted into a public college. During the National Education Week 2022, Cantonment College Jashore has won the honor of being the best educational institution at the college level in Khulna Division. In 2023 and 2024, the principal of this college, Lt. Col. Nusrat Noor Al Chowdhury won the honor of the best principal at the departmental level and in 2024, she won the second place at the national level. Rover Scout, BNCC Army, BNCC Biman, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award besides various club activities such as: English Language Club, Arabic Language Club, Science Club, Math’s Club, Debate for the creative talent development of students. Various club activities including club, ICT club, photography club, media club, swimming club, cultural club have been taken up. The college organizes model written exams to prepare students interested in joining the army. Additionally, students have the opportunity for regular practice at the ISSB practice ground on the college campus. The outstanding performance of our students, their promising future in education, and the trust of their parents inspire us to continue our journey.
